Here is a list of the ghosts that you will encounter on Wednesday October 9th at 6:30 p.m. (rain date October 16th) at the Wakeman Cemetery. Please bring a lawn chair! Parking is available at the Waterville Gas Company or at the Presbyterian Church.
Martin Gunn (1769-1818) –1818 settler details of the trip from Massachusetts and the circumstances surrounding two tragic deaths in his family
Reuben Hall (1824-1902) – 1800s tobacconist who raised, processed and sold tobacco products in early Waterville
Rosa Breisach (1860-1944) – German-American resident who operated a successful tavern
John “Jack” Rhodes (1852-1939) Unlikely marshal who served several terms
Jessie Mae Kern (1875-1971) Neighbor and employee of Mrs. Sadie Ging who operated the popular Ging Tea Room
Wilbur “Pick” Hoobler (1868-1955) Popular violinist who often played for the dances in the Columbian House ballroom
Grace Brown (1910-2002) Relates account of the injuries suffered by several members of Waterville and Whitehouse high schools’ 1929 class trip to Washington, D.C.
Opel Witte (1898-1996) Shares the story of her “Swing Bowl,” a popular teenage hangout during World War II
Ariel Bradley (1767-1857) Relates his experience of serving as a nine-year old spy for General George Washington during the American Revolution
